Director’s Commentary About the Film

Denver to Boston is a short film about an ex-couple reconnecting over a tragic incident involving their child. John Hunt (the famed country musician) travels back to Boston to confront his ex-partner, Emily. Although Emily may have moved on with a new partner, feelings from past memories resurface a connection between her and Hunt. This story builds off the contrasts of love verse want, and hope verse loss.

Over an eight-month span, the cast and crew of this film have worked tirelessly to bring an emotional and passionate outcome. Every single person involved in this project did it on their own time off the desire of the story. We made this film with absolutely zero budget- only spending out-of-pocket change on gas, AA batteries, and (of course) coffee.

This project was made during my Graduate Year at Quinnipiac University. I wanted to include this story into my capstone project, for I believe it reflects the pinnacle of my filmmaking abilities at the time of its creation. I could not be prouder of the reach this film has gotten throughout its festival run. Although I am saddened that COVID had to alter many premieres, I am nonetheless grateful for each and every selection. The cast and crew of this project grew close together like a family. I appreciate all of their involvement and dedication.

To raise funds for festivals, we started a GoFundMe campaign. Half of what we raised was donated to The Daniel J. Hollis Foundation.

“The Daniel J. Hollis Foundation, Inc. is devoted to providing opportunities for young people to cultivate curiosity, support healthy competition, and develop meaningful connections.” https://danieljhollisfoundation.org/.

Denver to Boston is dedicated to, my high school teammate and pal, the late Daniel J. Hollis.
